Welcome to my new column with Caledonista. Each fortnight I’ll be alternating between beauty and fashion content; sharing my favourite looks, trends and products with you.

Makeup Look of the Month

Makeup Look of the Month

I wouldn’t usually wear a strong statement eye look and lip look together, but I’ve had a strange, bumpy rash down the side of my ear and around the back of my head, on one side (the perils of constantly trying new products), so I’ve been trying to draw everyone’s gaze to the middle of my face.

My eyeshadow look is a mixture of a liquid shadow and some pressed powder shadows – all new launches from budget high-street brand Sleek MakeUP. Their new i-Lust Bronze Palette from their Into The Night Collection (£7.99 from Sleek MakeUP) is stunning. The rich gold, bronze and copper metallic shades are so buttery and pigmented. They blend beautifully and the colours allow you to wear a light metallic wash during the day, and then something dark and smoky at night. I’ve layered a couple of the metallic copper and gold shades over a new green liquid eyeshadow from Sleek MakeUP, which I blended out all around my eye area, for a messy, smoky look. The i-Art Eyeshadow in Neo Pop (£7 from Sleek MakeUP) is a metallic cream that gives you plenty of time to work with it and blend it out before it dries. Then, it doesn’t budge all day. You could wear this product quite sheer, or really pack on the colour. Finally, I applied the creamy and sturdy Wunder2 Super-Stay Eyeliners in Glitter Aubergine and Metallic Gold (£12.95 each from Wunder2) to my tight-line and water-line to further frame my eyes and add some different colours into the mix.

On my lips I’ve gone with the a stunning lipstick from MAC glorious Christmas collection Snowball. The MAC Snowball Amplified Lipstick in Elle Belle (£16.50 from MAC) really packs a punch and it goes so well with the green eyeshadow I’ve used.

My popping highlight is the amazing new Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops in Beam Me Up (£6.99 from Superdrug). They will give you all the glow with just a dab of the stuff! This overall look is definitely more of a party one, but I’ve been rocking it during the day and you can too.

New Beauty I’m Loving

New Beauty I’m Loving

I’m totally in love with the sparkly gilt packaging of the MAC limited edition Snowball collection. The MAC Snowball Amplified Lipstick in Elle Belle (£16.50) is a deep, dark red that’s perfect for winter. It’s so creamy in texture and just glides onto the lips. All you need is one coat to get that gorgeous full, opaque coverage, with a semi-lustrous finish. The bullet itself is so pretty that you’ll want to be constantly pulling it out of your handbag to show it off.

I’ve also been really impressed with a new hair care product from Bumble & Bumble. Their Daytime Protective Repair Fluid (£35 from Bumble and Bumble) contains Camelia Oil and UV filters to not only repair past damage to your hair, but to prevent future damage too. This light serum is designed to be applied to any hair type and worked daily through damp hair to treat and condition, and to protect your hair from environmental stresses. It smells beautiful and feels like such a treat too.

The Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops (£6.99 each from Superdrug) are so glowy and are like molten metal. They blend beautifully and you only need the tiniest drop to pat onto the high points of your face. There’s no way anyone could actually finish a bottle of this, so the price is amazing value.

There’s a new skincare collection coming to the UK in January from much-loved brand bareMinerals. The new Ageless Genius collection will contain a Firming & Wrinkle Smoothing Serum (£48) – which is infused with key anti-ageing peptides, mineral gold and Vitamin A. There’s also the Firming and Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream (£36) which is designed to brighten the under-eye area, as well as de-puff and firm the skin. Finally, there will be a Firming and Wrinkle Smoothing Neck Cream (£42), which is great, as so many people neglect this area in their skincare regimes. Bolstering the ingredients of the face cream is the Edelweiss flower extract ingredient, which firms the skin in this delicate area that’s prone to sagging.
