Still battling for that summer bod? We're here to help...
Whether you’re going on a summer holiday or not, it’s hard to avoid the (slightly intimidating) phrase “summer bod” as it gets thrown around between the months of May and August.Whether it’s muttered from the lips of friends, family or even yourself, it is inevitable that you will hear it at some point during the warmer months. (Sometimes, if a person is really dedicated to the cause, those words can even be heard as early as January, just as those Christmas leftovers have disappeared from temptation.)
Those words are often paired with a desperate attempt at a fad diet or exercise regime, which, we can all admit to, is often very short lived. Although we do not speak for everyone, if you have successfully stuck to an exercise routine this summer then first of all CONGRATULATIONS! Secondly, please send us an e-mail with all your secrets. If you are still trying to achieve your summer body however, or are just looking for a way to add exercise into your schedules, then we are here to help.
Here at Caledonista HQ we have done some research and chosen the best fitness guru’s come bloggers/Youtubers that will help you not only stick to exercise, but will actually help you see results. All from the comfort of your own home.
Blogilates: Cassey Ho, entrepreneur, Instgram and YouTube rising star, is the creator of POP Pilates; a series of workouts that focus mainly on the core and sculpting the body into a lean dancer-like physique. We particularly love her YouTube channel. All equipment free videos ranging from a quick and focussed 5 minute workout, to a more challenging 30 minute session. If you have a specific area of the body that you want to target then Cassey will have a specific video on her channel just for it.
Yoga with Adriene: If you’re looking for a form of exercise that is a little gentler, then Adrianne will be your new best friend. She is a fully qualified yoga coach who creates videos from her own home for people to do in the comfort of their own homes! No equipment needed, just a mat or soft surface. If you, like me, were feeling a little too intimated to dive straight in to a yoga class head first as a beginner, her videos are great for breaking you into the exercise gently. She has videos for all levels and runs through all the moves and basics as you go. She also has several yoga series’, such as ‘Yoga for Weight Loss’ and the ’30 Day Yoga Revolution’. Forget the usual eerie silence of a yoga class, Adriene will also have you giggling!
Kayla Itsines: You may have already heard of Kayla, or at least her extremely popular “BBG” programme (the bikini body guide). Her programme certainly isn’t for the faint hearted. BUT if you’re looking for fast results, then it is definitely worth a try. In order to access her programme you need to purchase and download her ‘Sweat with Kayla’ app or you can download it as a PDF to your laptop. It is a 12 week programme, broken into 3 workouts per week. There is a small amount of equipment required, but she also provides equipment free alternatives. Be prepared to be in pain, and curse both Kayla and Caledonista, but it will be SO worth it, we promise. (Between you and I, you are able to find most of her exercises online if you search for her guide - but that didn’t come from me)
