The wait is finally over.
Whether you are a Taylor Swift fan or not, providing you have an active social media account or a mild interest in anything pop culture you will already be familiar (or fed up*cough*) with Taylors recent taunting and teasing of new music to her fans.
It all began last Friday when Taylor cleared all of her social media accounts. Removing all images, posts, profile photos AND unfollowing everyone whilst she was at it too. That’s when the alarm began to ring amongst her fan base. And some of them haven’t put their phones down since.
Then, on Monday the silence was broken. She began a series of cryptic but very carefully planned posts. Three short video clips were released leading up to the reveal of a dark and sinister looking snake. Clue to a song title? Maybe. She has got us once again, waiting to find out.
Finally, last night she gave her fans, who have been on the edge of their seats since Friday, exactly what they were waiting for. Three pictures posted on her social media accounts revealed the album title – Reputation, the release date – November 10th and perhaps most importantly the news of when the first single will be released – tonight.
Also known for once removing all of her music from the music streaming platform Spotify, Taylor isn’t afraid of rustling some feathers within the cyber world. And feathers were certainly rustled this week. Her tactics were clever, well thought out, and without a doubt successful. Sparking conversation across the globe her methods engaged millions. We definitely take our hats off to Tay Tay's marketing team. Let's hope the new music lives up to all its anticipation and excitement so far.
The release comes at the end of a three year gap since her last album 1989 was released. Her last album 1989 won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year as well as became the fastest selling album in a decade in the US.
