If you, like us, have your feelers out subconsciously always trying to find the newest, best and fastest way to lose weight or generally better yourself (is that such a crime?) then the word ‘superfood’ will definitely not be new to you.
But, what actually are superfoods? With a name that does literally deem them as the superheroes of the food world, we quite rightly, have pretty high expectations for the powers that they possess. Although no true definition to superfoods exists, they tend to hold qualities that link directly to weight loss, lower risk of depression and other chronic illnesses such heart disease, strokes and cancer.
With food brands across the globe recognising this trend in superfoods, the question it becomes difficult to answer is how much of what they feed us is really true? (pun intended) And how much of it just comes down to clever marketing efforts? Although unfortunately we cannot answer this question, what we can do is provide you with a run-down of our 5 most favoured, effective, and trustworthy superfoods. Superpower: these leaves are a GREAT source of iron, which is most commonly consumed through meat.
